Eyebrows get more technique options than almost any other area we work on. Here's the honest breakdown of what each one does.
Threading
A cotton thread is twisted and rolled along the skin to lift and remove hair directly from the follicle — including very fine hairs that wax can miss. It's precise (you can shape a very clean line), doesn't involve any chemicals or heat touching the skin, and tends to cause less irritation for sensitive skin than wax. The trade-off is it takes a little longer than waxing for the same result.
Waxing
Wax removes a broader section of hair at once, which makes it faster for larger areas but slightly less precise for fine shaping work than threading. It's a good option if you want efficient, straightforward tidy-up rather than a specific architectural shape.
Tinting
Tinting doesn't remove hair at all — it deposits colour into the brow hairs, making them appear fuller and more defined without any product application day to day. It's popular paired with either threading or waxing, or on its own if your brows are already the shape you want but could use more depth or definition (especially if you have naturally fair or grey brow hair).
Combining them
Most of our brow bookings combine two techniques rather than picking just one:
- Eyebrows threaded/waxed and tint (from $45, ~35 min) — shape plus colour in one visit
- Brow threaded/waxed + henna or hybrid tint (from $68, ~1 hour) — a longer-lasting tint option
- Brows, lips and chin threaded/waxed (from $55) — if you want the full face done in one appointment
- Brow lamination and tint (from $85, ~1 hour) — lamination sets the brow hairs in a fuller, more uniform direction, then tint adds colour on top — this is the option if your brows are naturally sparse or unruly and you want them to hold a fuller shape between appointments
Which should you book first?
If you've never had your brows professionally shaped, start with a threading or wax shape-only appointment so you and your technician agree on the shape before adding tint or lamination on top of it. Once you're happy with the shape, tint and lamination are easy additions on future visits.
